        We are a collective of musicians and artists uniting as a creative response to the attacks, kidnappings, and inhumane treatment of communities and families terrorized by ICE and law enforcement in the United States.

      • What We’re Doing

        CONTRA-ICE Compilation Record - Release 2026

        Through music, spoken word, and comedy, the album will weave a narrative that raises a collective voice in support of immigrant rights and the inhumanity of the current ICE state in the United States. The goal of the album is to foster collective consciousness to combat this injustice and raise funds for frontline organizations working with communities impacted in Los Angeles and throughout California (see beneficiaries below).

        CONTRA-ICE Launch Event - Los Angeles, Spring 2026

        Official kick-off announcement for the CONTRA-ICE project. Directors of the project will speak on the mission, with an open Q&A. Performances and art from select artists involved to be announced closer to the date. Additionally, the event will play a crucial role in fostering potential donor involvement.

        CONTRA-ICE Benefit Concert & Festival - Los Angeles, Late 2026 Goal

        A massive block-party music festival with main stage performances in support of the project vision, including several featured on the initial CONTRA-ICE compilation as well as others (TBD). Benefit concert to include community engagement villages with a focus on:

        • Immigrant Legal Resources
        • Know Your Rights and Self-Defense Trainings
        • Decolonization Workshops/Panels/Educational Speakers
        • Healthcare Resources (including mental health) for communities impacted
        • English Translation Workshops for non-English speaking communities
        • Food, household supplies, and pet care resources
        • Auction for high-value donor involvement

        Beneficiaries

        The frontline organizations listed below are working with communities in Los Angeles affected by unjust treatment from federal immigration agents and are the recipients of funds raised by the CONTRA-ICE project.

          Dedicated to building a people's organization promoting and defending the human rights and class interests of la raza in the United States.

        • National Day Laborer Org
          Improving the lives of day laborers, migrants, and low-wage workers by building leadership and power among those facing injustice.

A visionary of Love Over Fear: Belief that music and art foster a vibrational connection through shared experiences, emotional resonance, and synchronized movement that transcends language barriers, creating a sense of community and belonging. Her work in California, Massachusetts, and Oregon has been grounded in two passions: supporting artists in the music industry and community outreach advocacy efforts in animal welfare.         Lalo Alcaraz

        His life is dedicated to the representation of raza and the uplifting of immigrants; that’s why Lalo is a visual artist, activist, satirist, author, journalist, editorial cartoonist for L.A.’s CALÓ News, 2x Pulitzer finalist, winner of the 2022 Herb Block Prize, and 2025 RFK Book & Journalism Prize and 7 SoCal Press Club Awards. Creator of the nationally syndicated daily comic strip, “La Cucaracha,” and editorial cartoons for Andrews McMeel. TV/film writer, producer, cultural consultant (The Casagrandes, Bordertown, Coco, Forza Horizon 5), BA in Art, SDSU, M. Arch, UC Berkeley. Not a fan of ICE except sometimes in whiskey.

        Jim was a member of the band Cop Shoot Cop in the 1990s, and in 2018, he and Unsane frontman Chris Spencer formed Human Impact. Additional projects include Phylr and filer coleman, The Children…, Here (with Teho Teardo), Baby Zizanie (with JG Thirlwell), This Wilderness (with Robbie O. Leaver), Deaf Doula, and Out Alive. He has composed music for indie feature films and television, collaborating with directors such as Todd Phillips, Beth B, Hal Hartley, Rosemary Rodriguez, and Richard Kern.

        Ashley Vasquez

        A storyteller and adventurer, Ashley bridges creative intuition with sharp strategy. Through her boutique creative agency, DCM Kid, she and her team craft content rooted in emotion, culture, and truth. With a background spanning production, branding, and digital media, Ashley moves fluidly between worlds, uniting cinematic craft with real-world impact.

        The daughter of an immigrant bar-owner, Ashley knows the value of hard work and holds a deep conviction: that storytelling grounded in truth, curiosity and craft can reshape culture. She invites collaboration with seekers, makers and believers—those who want to do more than simply show up, but show up changed.

        Ashley has brought her solution-oriented, anything-is-possible mindset to brands and bands such as Ozomatli, Victoria Beer, K-Swiss, Corona Beer, Disney, STX Entertainment, and Jack in the Box, to name a few.

        Matt Donahue

        Fiscal Advisor

        Matt Donahue is a veteran finance professional, active musician, and community and civic volunteer. Currently working in public finance service for local governments and non-profits, he started his career in education as a teacher and then helped start up an online learning company dedicated to teaching computer programming. He earned a BA in Afro-American studies from Harvard College and an MBA from the Yale School of Management, where he studied finance and non-profit management. Matt volunteers for local civic oversight committees, a learning research non-profit, and lives in Portland, Oregon.

        Pallavi Kidambi

        Pallavi Kidambi is a professional fundraiser, interdisciplinary artist, and social justice educator committed to synthesizing artistic practice and community organizing. Pallavi designs educational programs and events centered on cultural preservation, self-determination, and solidarity building. Their development work is largely grassroots and intersectional, at the forefront of creative innovation and social impact. As a fundraiser, Pallavi has redistributed over $6 million worth of funding and land back to communities of color through collaborations with the National End owment for the Arts, California Arts Council, San Francisco Arts Commission, San Francisco Parks and Recreation, the City of Oakland, and the Sogorea’te Land Trust, among others.

        Jake Trussell

        Album Production Coordinator & Creative Coordinator

        Jake Trussell is known for his work as a creative director, communications strategist, music producer, and DJ. He founded Mashit, a record label that has produced over 20 vinyl and digital releases, and has gathered fans worldwide, including the late BBC Radio 1 legend, John Peel. The Chicago Reader has called Mashit “Innovative … clever … futuristic.” As a recording artist and DJ (DJ C), he's released 50+ records, composed film scores, and performed around the globe. Boston Magazine called him an “alchemist of sound,” and XLR8R Magazine a “pivotal figure” for his innovative recordings and DJ style. He's currently producing HopesAndDrums, an interdisciplinary project combining music, writing, and visual art.

        Jake has also served as Director of Marketing and Communications for Intuit Art Museum, Vice Chair of the Arts and Business Council of Chicago, Creative Director at Chicago’s economic development organization, chaired by the Mayor, and Webmaster for the Massachusetts College of Art & Design, where he also earned a BFA in Interrelated Media.
